John Wyclif

John Wyclif John Wyclif (d.1384) is remembered variously as heretic, reactionary philosopher, Bible translator, and proto-reformer. This survey situates Wyclif in his fourteenth-century milieu in an attempt to dispel the myths surrounding his rich and complex theological vision. Lahey argues that Wyclif's linguistic philosophy and his Scripture hermeneutic lie at the base of the ideas that scandalized the fourteenth-century Church.
